Greetings from Onancock!
Welcome to our newsletter — an occasional article to update our stationery and transcription friends about what’s new and noteworthy in the studio.

Handmade Books in Stock
Recently added to the studio. . . our very own handmade address books and blank journals.

We’ve had folks asking for address books and are pleased to announce that we’ve stocked some that we handbound right here in the studio. These medium-sized (4×6) address books feature smooth, cream paper printed in Italy. We have covered them in fabric and decorative paper – they feel luxurious in your hand! They’re a perfect size for either keeping on your desktop or tucking into a handbag for travel.
Our made-from-scratch blank journals have been popular lately! (Thank you!) We cut and fold each page by hand, stitch them together with decorative ribbon in the French-link style, then bind it all together with beautiful paper-covered boards.
Manuscript Quarterly
Have you heard about our subscription boxes? Manuscript Quarterly is a curated sampler of stationery items designed to inspire you to pick up your pen a little more often and connect with friends and loved ones. Boxes are $45 per quarter. Our current Spring box is still available through the month of May. The Summer box will be released on June 1, but can be pre-ordered anytime. Delivery by mail ($10 shipping) or in-person pick-up options are available.

Transcription Services
Bayside Transcriptions, our transcription and research service begun in 2017, is our primary business. Stephanie, the transcriber, offers assistance at reasonable rates for folks needing help reading old handwritten documents. Perhaps you have old letters or diaries that are difficult to decipher or not in good enough condition to pass around to family members. Having a transcribed copy makes the document readable, searchable, and shareable.
Or, perhaps you’re the family historian but have hit a roadblock with some messy court records or don’t know where to look for that next clue to build your family tree. Stephanie’s research and transcription skills may help you clear that hurdle and move forward with your quest.

Handwritten Scripture Challenge
If you’ve followed us on social media, you may have seen the 2025 Handwritten Scripture Challenge. This has been a lot of fun and a very enriching exercise. The challenge is to write out by hand at least one Scripture verse per week based on the given prompt. It’s an opportunity to pause and delve into the Bible in a way that connects us to the words on the page. By exploring particular themes of Scripture and handwriting the verses it plants the meaning all the more deeply in our hearts. Plus, it’s a great way to practice your handwriting or calligraphy skills. Posting your written verses on social media with the hashtag #handwrittenscripturechallenge connects us and we can inspire one another on.

Come visit us at Manuscript Stationery in Studio 101 at the Historic Onancock School, 6 College Ave., Onancock. While you’re here take time to stroll the beautiful Nature Trail and visit the other shops and artists’ studios in the building.
Until next time, we wish you happy writing!
